Is it necessary to change the prosthesis?

The ancient prosthesis of liquid silicone and a single layer on its wall must be changed.  The prosthesis of cohesive gel implants with multilayer wall should not be changed. Specifically I only work with American prosthesis MENTOR, a world leader in breast implants, since 2005 they warrants with a written contract the breast prostheses for ENTIRE LIFE OF THE PATIENT, replacing prosthesis  if they give some kind of problem, this gives a lot of confidence, not only to you but also to us.

Does this affect the sensitivity and the breastfeeding?

With ancient techniques yes. For some years I performed the subcutaneous dissection technique (see video breast augmentation) I don´t touch the mammary gland, and therefore this does not affect neither sensory fibers nor ducts for breastfeeding. There´s no possibility of been affected.

Can be explored the breast after breast augmentation surgery?

The breast prosthesis is opaque, does not pass the x-ray.  So if you put it above the muscle, the breast exam is very difficult, with the risk involved. If you put the submuscular prosthesis, In the mammogram, the muscle gets the prosthesis and grabs the breast mammography, so that you can browse and view the entire breast. We always put the submuscular prosthesis.

When can I turn to work?

The pain threshold of each patient is different. In some patients is better and in others worse, but ALL, after two days, when I recall the dressing, they notice a huge relief. You can shower and get a sports bra, the third or fourth day you can drive. That is, depending on the type of occupation into two or three days you can work, but mustn´t carry significant weight the early days, because you will be more troublesome . The discomfort during the first two days could be compare with the rise of milk in breastfeeding ... There isn´t a surgery to take holidays, you only need to ask for two or three days at work.

When could I practice sports?

It depends. Trying to generalize, in one week you could make aerobic and cardio fitness, in fifteen days you could swimm, in four weeks you could do weights exclusively affecting the chest...

I do not remember at what time I have to be in the hospital.

Do not worry, all the information about the time, about what do you need to take to the hospital,(they will give you everything except a vanity grooming), not to go makeup, not to wear metallic objects, and the period of fasting before surgery ... all, I will remember to you at the call of the day before surgery.

I spoke with Dr. Martin Anaya about the size, but after talking to my family and friends, I have doubts about what I want.

Call us for any questions before surgery, but do not worry. The day of surgery, in the hospital, before surgery, we turn to talk about it, we review and confirm all, among breast size.

I will be with the period on the day of surgery. Is there a problem?

It's a frequently question. Half of the women that I operate are with the period, and the other half, with the nerves,  the mensturation advances  or retards. But please don´t worry. It's okay. My nurse will see you before surgery, so you will not feel uncomfortable.

AFTER SURGERY

During two weeks or two months, did not hurt at all and now I notice punctures. is everything okay?

The normal healing period in humans ranges from six months to a year. Until that scar tissue is not fully mature could irritate sensitive fiber and annoy occasionally. There is nothing you have to worry.

Surgery took two weeks and suddenly, I have in the scar a yellow fluid. Have the scar been infected?

There are two types of sutures. Internal and external. The external is removed in a week. The inmate is resorbable, the body metabolizes it. But there are so superficial points to remove the scar tension that sometimes, the body finds it easier to expel him than to eat it. The yellowish liquid is the midpoint reabsorbed and plasma serous around him as he has been metabolized. In one or two days it will be resolves spontaneously, and you just has to put some mercurochrome, old Mercurochrome, because it is the best drying antiseptic that exists.

It has passed two or three weeks after surgery and I feel a great sensitivity in the areola, is this normal?

All of you pass through several phases. The first few days have a sleepy sensitivity. From the fifteenth day after surgery you begin to notice hypersensitivity in the areolas, any friction annoying ... this lasts a couple of weeks then it normalizes. But from the areola to the inframammary fold you will feel sleepy the skin, as corky, during two or three months. The normal sensitivity should return for approximately six months. And take note, each breast evolves in a way. Do not worry. The right may be hipersensitive and left hyposensitive... This is how it happens.

The scar during a month saws great, but it's passed another month and it has swollen and is red why?

At three or four weeks the scar is great because your body has not responded yet. You see our work. But from the month begins the red phase of the scar: red, hard, lumpy ... worse. It is the normal evolution. Until half a year pass is not stabilized to whitening and able to pass unnoticed. During those months we will look after the scar we´ll give you instructions through in consultation, and after half a year we will have a CO2 laser session to standardize the skin of the scar and make it less visible yet.

It has been two or three years, the chest is phenomenal, but during two or three weeks I have puncture in my chest. Is there any problem with the prosthesis?

prostheses is placed behind the muscle. The prosthesis is located behind the muscle. For any problem that may present it will be never pain what you felt. The symptom is hard, you notices the chest hard, it is because when the muscle is irritated it becomes contracture. If the chest is soft prosthesis is not responsible. Think of ovulation, menstruation, some small breast cyst compressing some sensitive fiber, but never think of a cancer! Cancer, unfortunately, doesn´t  warning, not hurt. If this happens to you, you must go to your gynecologist, ... and come to see me, make an appointment. It's been a long time without seeing each other!
